In early spring, the Pocahontas features showy panicles of fragrant violet flowers that bloom earlier compared to the common lilac. It has bluish-green, heart-shaped leaves that turn shades of red, burgundy, and purple in the fall. The Pocahontas Lilac should be grown in alkaline-neutral, well-draining soil.
